The 2014 vintage
After a mild winter and a warm spring, the vines started growing very fast, about 3 weeks earlier than 2013.
During the months of May and June - cold, humid and unstable - the growth of the vines slowed down, causing the failure of grapes to develop after flowering.
A summer lacking heat and sun, with violent storms and hail caused damage to the vineyards of Lavaux and seriously endangered a healthy harvest.
Luckily September offered perfect weather conditions, with cool nights and warm sunny days, for the grapes to develop a good concentration of aromas and tanins. This is exactly when the 'drosophilia suzukii', a tiny fly originating from Asia, attacks the vineyards. This new plague made it essential for us to carefully select grapes during the harvest.
With patience and respect for the vegetation cycle, we started the harvest late, on the 13th of October.
The vintage 2014 is very tasty, mineral, well-balanced with a long finish: everything to please connoisseurs as well as enthuiasts new to our wines.
Cheers!
